For this academic project, in a team of 2, we were tasked with solving a local problem while contributing to a “smart city” status. This was achieved through researching, ideating, prototyping and testing a solution.To find a specific problem, the following methods were employed:

• Online research to identify local issues, comparing Kortrijk with similar cities (e.g., Ostend) on factors like poverty and unemployment.
• Empathy-driven exploration by connecting with friends, classmates, and families to uncover recurring problems in their living areas.
• A virtual journey through Kortrijk on Google Maps to observe potential issues and draw inspiration.

Through these methods we identified a pain point relating to the river-side area in Kortrijk with a lot of potential.
